One of my favorite pairings is brie and raspberry jam. It's sweet and savory and so, so decadent. So I was practically drooling at the television when I saw a contestant on Rocco's Dinner Party make deep fried brie and paired it with lingonberry jam. The recipe is so basic and simple I wonder why I never thought of it myself, but no matter now. I have discovered it and made it and now I am in love with it.
I didn't have an lingonberry jam lying around the house so I substituted it for some raspberry instead. I think that blackberry jam would taste awesome recipe as well, and I will be attempting that combination in the future. The end result of this recipe is the perfect size to just pop in your mouth. I think it would make for a fabulous appetizer for a dinner party or in my case a perfect snack while watching some T.V.
A big thanks goes out to contestant Corey Roberts for coming up with this recipe you showed me a new way to enjoy some of my favorite foods.
Deep Fried Brie with Jam
Yield: 1 dozen
Prep Time: 15 minutes I Cook Time: 10 minutes
Ingredients
- 8 ounces brie cheese
- 4 ounces flour
- 2 eggs beaten
- 6 ounces panko bread crumbs
- Oil for frying
- Jam of your choosing
Start off by heating the oil in a deep pot or in your deep fryer. Cut the cheese into 12 equal sized pieces and set aside. Coat the cheese in flour, the dip in the egg and then into the panko and then repeat so you have a nice thick, double coating on the cheese. Repeat this until you have breaded all of the cheese pieces.
Place the cheese gently into the oil and cook until it is golden brown. Remove from the oil and place on a paper towel to absorb any excess oil.
Serve with some warmed jam.
Serve with some warmed jam.

Looks great!
Great appetizer here. Fried brie definitely reigns over fried mozzarella-yum!
