Toasted Marshmallow Milkshake

There are a few factors that have ultimately let me to this post. First was watching The Best Thing I Ever Ate on Food Network where Michael Symon went to Stand in New York City where he drank not one, not two but three Toasted Marshmallow Milkshakes!! So naturally due to my marshmallow addiction me and hubby had to make the trip there to go so I could try it and let me tell you it was the most delicious milkshake I have ever had. Joe had a peanut milkshake which was good...but it was no toasted marshmallow.

Truth be told, every so often I dream about this milkshake and wish I could run into the city quick to grab one when I stumbled across a recipe for a Toasted Marshmallow Milkshake on where else? Pinterest!  I actually found a whole bunch of recipes and kind of created my own based off of the ones I found online. This recipe from A Cozy Kitchen for the milkshake is what I based my own recipe off of. Although I did change it up a bit and I made it for just one person. As an added bonus, I got to use my milkshake machine which never sees the light of my kitchen enough, it's such a nostalgic piece of equipment that makes me feel like a kid all over again.

Toasted Marshmallow Milkshake
Yield: 1 Serving
Prep Time: 5 minutes

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup vanilla ice cream (go for high quality ice cream!)
  • 1 tablespoon milk
  • 6 large marshmallows
  • Splash of vanilla
  • whipped cream
Toast all of the marshmallows in the oven until they have puffed up nicely and because nice and toasty on the outside. Once they do, pull them from the oven and quickly put four of them into the blender or milkshake machine with the ice cream, milk and vanilla. Blend them up until it becomes milkshake consistency and pour into a glass. Top the milkshake with the remaining two marshmallows and a little bit of whipped cream and enjoy!

Very interesting - unfortunately I don't like marshmallows at all, but I know a bunch of people who would love this!
