Red Lobster Copycat Cheddar Bay Biscuits

There's nothing like Red Lobster biscuits. I don't know what it is about them, but I just love them. The cheese, the garlicky flavor and the buttery biscuit combination is just awesome. The terrible part though? We never go to Red Lobster, like as in ever. I think in the ten years we've been together we ate their once, but I remember their biscuits and have even gone once or twice and gotten taken out of - you guessed it biscuits!

So after seeing what seemed like the millionth Red Lobster commercial I decided it was time to make these biscuits. I tracked down the recipe in Todd Wilbur's copycat cookbooks and wouldn't even bother trying another recipe. It was the bomb. "Boss" according to our friends, and hey - who am I to be picky about my compliments? So if you want to try out these super simple "boss" biscuits, I tell you give these bad boys a try.

Red Lobster Copycat Cheddar Bay Biscuits
Yield: 1 dozen biscuits
Prep Time: 10 minutes     I     Bake Time: 12 minutes

Ingredients:

  • 2 1/2 cups Bisquick or other biscuit mix
  • 4 tablespoons cold butter, diced
  • 3/4 cup milk
  • 1 tablespoon garlic powder
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • Extra melted butter for brushing on top
Preheat your oven to 350 degrees.

Combine the biscuit mix and butter in a large mixing bowl and using a pastry cutter (or a whisk) mix the ingredients until the butter begins to break down. Stir in the remaining ingredients until you have a very thick lumpy batter.

Use an ice cream scoop to portion out the biscuits and drop them on to a greased baking pan. Then use a pastry brush to brush a little butter on top of each biscuit. Sprinkle a little bit of garlic powder on top and a little bit of cheese.

Place in the oven and bake for approximately 12 minutes or until they are golden brown.

Recipe adapted from Todd Wilbur.
